The oyster omelet is a popular dish in Taiwan. It is a special and delicious dish that around every street corner around Taiwan.

History of Taiwanese Oyster Omelet

It is hard to find when this dish has become famous in Taiwan. The earliest history can found in the 17th- century, when Nederlanders attack Taiwan and Ming dynasty wants to reoccur for this land, the Ming dynasty send Koxinga to fight with Nederlands. Nederlanders hide with rice and tried to get the Ming dynasty people to suffer Hunger. Koxinga found a way to save his crew, he found oysters near the coast and fry with potato powder and save his man.

Later in 1900, a man called Mr.Kuo were using this method and adding an egg and some vegetable to became a dish. yet, it spread all over the place and become a popular food in Taiwan.

How to make Taiwanese Oyster Omelet

To making Taiwanese Oyster Omelet need to make a special and stick sauce because when you taste is it makes you feel awesome!

Taiwanese Oyster Omelet Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons soy paste (NOT soy sauce); I recommend Kimlan brand
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sweet potato powder

Taiwanese Oyster Omelet

  • 1/4 cup tapioca starch
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup Chinese greens– normally is A-choy or Romaine leaves
  • eggs
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 10 oz jar of fresh, shucked oysters, or 4-6 fresh oysters
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil

Steps:

  1. Make sauce start with sweet potato powder with other things that above mentioned.
  2. Put oil in a pan
  3. Put fresh oysters
  4. Add eggs and Chinese greens
  5. Add salt and other flavors that you like
  6. Add with special sauce
  7. Enjoy the meal!
